Full Day Tour Stirling Castle and The Trossachs
Efe Gokce: Fantastic Flavour of Scotland Including a Castle, a Distillery and a Loch
I
love this tour because of its mix of history, nature, quirky roads and
beautiful mountains and lochs.
Stirling Castle guards the gateway to the Highlands and is called the 'Brooch
of Scotland' because whoever held it controlled the country. From its walls
there are fine views of the route we will take later in the day into the Loch
Lomond and Trossachs National Park. This is Braveheart country and Stirling has
a fascinating story to tell about the lives of Robert the Bruce, William
Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots, often depicted in literature and film.
At
Deanston Distillery we will learn about the making of whisky, Scotland's
national drink. There will also be an opportunity to drive past Doune Castle or
'Castle Leoch' of Outlander (and Monty Python) fame.
After lunch at a typical country town, we return via the scenic Duke's Pass and
Loch Venachar and hear tales of another famous character from Scottish history,
Rob Roy MacGregor. We may even see some rather special ' hairy cows. '
